The Story of Mutubanda

 

Sri Lanka already experience the impacts of climate change. Mutubanda has grown rice half his life but increasing frequency and duration of droughts are threatening his harvest. He uses traditional drought-resistant seed varieties to adapt to the changing conditions. Even this method of adaptation is under threat as the probability of future droughts increases as a result of climate change.

This is one story of many.

"Council for sustainable development mooted" by Ramani Kangaraarachchi

The Environment and Natural Resources Ministry will set up a National Council for Sustainable Development.

Environment and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawake said a national action plan called Haritha (Green) Lanka Program will be implemented from 2010 to 2016 for the sustainable development of the country.
